SOUTH ASIAN HISTORIES FOR ALL
CATALYZING A MOVEMENT IN EDUCATION FOR CASTE AND RELIGIOUS EQUITY
The teaching of South Asian History has become a bitter battleground as radicalized Hindu fundamentalists continue to assault caste-oppressed migrants and our right to learn accurate history of South Asian communities. These fundamentalists continue to attempt to erase caste and its origins in hindu scripture, create foreign invasion narratives of Islam in the subcontinent, and attempt to Hinduify the origin stories of Sikhism and Buddhism.
In the wake of this attempt to insert alternative facts into American textbooks and interfaith spaces, Equality Labs worked with anchor organizations Indian American Muslim Council, Sikh Coalition, Cair, and twenty other South Asian American organizations to found the South Asian Histories for All Coalition.
This coalition formed in the battles around the California Textbook Frameworks but will now be expanding to continue our advocacy in government and educational spaces. For more information please contact us and visit the South Asian Histories for all website.
